How to systematically strip away a stubborn fear of failure

A few questions rolled in about last week’s cash stacking emails…

“I think i can hypnotize people for money and do a bit of change work on them as a hypnotherapist. I have 2 certs in it now so just need to get my name out there. Its all thanks to you teaching me to hypnotize girls.

I got rid of anxiety from one. I know it worked so i can do anything with it. Just need to find right scripts so when pandemic is over i will charge people.” – Mark

Yes, if you’ve been studying Mindvana then you can most definitely start charging people for your services. Just keep in mind that therapeutic hypnosis can be a bit trickier than most hypnotists let on.

With a great subject, you may not have to do much to get a solid result. But with most clients, it won’t be as easy as just reading them a script you found online.

For anxiety issues, toss the scripts and focus on using the therapeutic techniques taught in Mindvana (“hypnotic regression,” “gestalting,” “healing the wounded child,” “the rewind technique,” “reframing,” “forgiveness work, and “energy tapping”).

If you’re just starting out but you’d like to recoup your investment as quickly as possible, focus on memorizing one induction (either the Elman or Mindvana Lite), a few deepeners, and the material covered in week #5’s “basic stress reduction” video (or the therapy techniques from the 7-Day Quick Start Course).

Once you have it all down pat, you’ll be ready to start charging for general stress reduction sessions.

And why wait for the pandemic to end? (If you’re worried about covid, you can offer webcam sessions.) People are stressed out of their minds and badly in need of help. Get on it.

Next question…

“Hi Jay. Can you give me an example on how you’d reframe the belief ‘I will never be successful’? Thank you for willingly sharing this info free of charge.” – Brian

===

Sure thing. First off, it’ll be helpful to start with a useful definition of success – one that’s not only useful, but achievable.

Is it just about making millions of dollars? There are plenty of millionaires who aren’t very happy (due to overwhelming stress, drug addictions, toxic relationships, etc.).

Is it about feeling better about yourself or impressing other people? I would look at why you’re eager for external validation.

Many of the benefits that we believe “success” will bring us can be had through modifying our mental operating system. Regardless, I’d encourage you to make as much money as possible – just don’t lose sight of what’s most important.

For instance, I’m not wealthy by most people’s standards, but I have enough money to do whatever I want (for the most part), I’m lucky enough to make my living helping people all over the world, I don’t answer to anyone (aka: freedom), I’m healthy, I have very little stress, I have great friends, and I’ve dated lots of beautiful girls.

I’ve achieved many of my personal goals and I feel happy and content about 90% of time. By my own standards, I’m very successful. But someone like Donald Trump would scoff at my achievements and call me a lightweight.

(There will always be someone playing the game at a higher level, so comparing yourself to others is a great way to make yourself feel like a loser.)

So work on creating a definition of success that’s realistically achievable and also compels you to put the work in on a daily basis. Money should be a side-effect of this journey, not the main focus, since it doesn’t guarantee future happiness.

Interestingly enough, there are studies that show we have a sort of happiness “set point.” If you’re a miserable person right now, then you’ll probably be miserable when you’re wealthy.

Therefore, the best way to guarantee you’ll be happy when your accounts are overflowing is to become happy right NOW. Train yourself to be happy throughout the most mundane parts of your life, and you’ll be in a great place, overall.

So now you have a useful definition and you’re ready to use the protocol I gave you last week.

Belief: “I’ll never be successful” or “I’m terrified of failing”

Step 1: When you say this out loud, lots of negative thoughts and old memories pop up (write them all down). The one that makes you most uncomfortable is the memory of losing all your savings last year due to a failed business venture. Start with that one.

Step 2:

Reframing: “Almost every successful person has suffered a loss like this along the way,” “Some people lost their savings and became completely demoralized, but eventually snapped out of it and bounced back,” “”Many wealthy celebrities were completely broke at one point and had to declare bankruptcy,” “My last business mishap is just a stepping stone to success,” “The universe is testing me to see if I can handle big challenges. I can pass this test by refusing to give up,” etc.

Gestalting: Go back in time and imagine you could give that younger you a pep talk using the knowledge that you have now.

Deconstructing: Start with the first mental movie of your business failure and change all the colors, flip the picture upside down, run the memory backwards while playing goofy music, etc. Keep doing this until it no longer affect you. (I recommend using the “rewind technique” that’s taught in Mindvana.)

Step 3: Replay the mental movie from the beginning. If it feels different now, move on to step 4.

Step 4: “I know that life is just a game to be played and achieving the level of success I want may not even make me truly happy. If happiness is the whole point, then I choose to work on increasing my happiness set point as I work on my next business venture. I know that being happy in the moment, while dealing with all the ups and downs of business, is something that’s totally achievable, and this motivates me to make it happen. I also know that, as long as I don’t give up, I’ll eventually get to my destination. The fact that I have complete control over whether or not I give up gives all the power I need to make this happen.”

Then you move on to the next memory until you resolve them all.

When you’re finished, start compiling evidence that your end goal is possible (read stories about people who struggled for years and finally became successful). Also read stories about those who became rich but keep their wealth a secret from the rest of the world (read “The Millionaire Next Door”).

Realize that if these people can do it, then you can, too.

You also need to believe you can be successful regardless of what the lockdown does to the economy. The good news is that you also have plenty of time to make this happen. Does it really matter if it takes 5, 10, or even 20 years if you finally get there in the end? It’s absolutely possible for anyone willing to invest their time and energy.

The other big piece to all of this is acting like you’re already successful.

Remember how I said that I occasionally spend money in ways that make me feel wealthy while still maintaining my relatively frugal ways? While this can help, you don’t need to spend money to make yourself feel this way.

Just imagine how you’d feel if you had all the success you could ever want, and keep yourself immersed in these feelings as much as possible.

To wrap things up, since you probably won’t believe that success will magically show up on your doorstep for no good reason, decide on some preliminary steps and start working on them asap. The hardest part is getting started, so the faster you can move on this, the better.

If you want to be a successful hypnotist, then the ideal first step would be using my paint-by-numbers Mindvana Lite system so you can see how easy it is to hypnotize someone like a pro. Then you can move on to either my 7-Day Quick Start Course, or the full Mindvana home study course (if you’re more interested in er-otic hypnosis for relationship enhancement).

It won’t be long before you can start charging for your services. Whether you want to help people reduce stress and anxiety or enhance their se-x lives, you’ll have the tools you’ll need to help your clients in a variety of ways.

But again, the hardest part is taking that first step. Go start by watching the fr-ee Mindvana Lite tutorial right here…
