Smashing through the beliefs that hold you back

In this specific example, I was talking about attacking the beliefs that could make it more challenging to deliver a solid result.

For instance, before you start working on a client’s elevator phobia, you can first get them to doubt that their problem is insurmountable or that it requires months of therapy.

Some clients might even have a belief that “hypnosis doesn’t work” or “hypnosis doesn’t work on me, personally.” Your sessions will go more smoothly if you loosen up these beliefs, beforehand.

Managing your subject’s expectations is a big part of process. If they expect a miraculous result, you’ll be more likely to deliver one.

Additionally, the ability to effortlessly dismantle a belief system has many applications outside the therapy room.

When it comes to changing someone’s way of thinking, if you can get them to doubt their existing reality, it becomes much easier for you to implant a new reality.

An example from the pua world is the much-maligned “neg hit” (essentially a backhanded compliment).

Negs were used to make beautiful girls in the club doubt their social status relative to yours, and, in some cases, prompt the girl to qualify herself to gain your approval.

You can also use this strategy on yourself, as we discussed yesterday. Write down all of your negative beliefs (e.g., it’s hard for me to make money, girls aren’t attracted to me, etc.), and start tearing them to shreds.

You can use NLP’s meta model to deconstruct them and then list multiple counter examples until the original belief no longer “feels right” to you.

The “reframing” video in the Mindvana Home Study Program will teach you how to become great at this. (As a side effect, you’ll also become impossible to argue with.)

And if you really want to destroy the belief that “beautiful women aren’t attracted to me,” then walk a few through the Mindvana process and notice how they start treating you afterwards. This is the only “counter example” you’ll need to blow that useless belief sky high.
